Effectiveness of bibliotherapy program for adjustment of divorced - family children

Abstract
This study is designed to test the effects of bibliotherapy program on the perceptional change of divorce, enhancement of self-esteem and behavior problem of children with parental divorce . The subjects are 5 elementary school students from 3rd to 5th grade who experienced parental divorce. To assess the effects, Wilcoxon signed rank test, a non-parametric statistics for Paired Sample, was conducted and the results jointly observed by a program assistant were analyzed to verify the emotional change. The findings led to the following conclusions. First, the score of the perception on parental divorce showed meaningful differences according to the results of Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test on bibliotherapy program. Second, there was no meaningful difference in the statistics in terms of the change of self-esttm. Third, meaningful differences rete evident with respect to the overall behavior problems, according to shrinking, delinquency, aggression in the statistics. But there was no meaningful difference according to the scores of physical symptoms, depression, anxiety, social immaturity and thinking problem in the statistics. After the result of content analysis on the child¡¯s behaviors found during the program, it was found that there were qualitative changes on the self-open, increase of expression, perception and attitude.
